GMRS Radio is a licensed radio service that uses channels around 462 MHz and 467 MHz. It is commonly used for short-distance, two-way voice communications using handheld radios, mobile radios, and repeater systems. GMRS radios are available in portable handheld models at up to 5 watts and mobile/base station models at up to 50 watts of power. The service is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, and a valid license is required before operating a GMRS radio.
